"There is no must in art because
art is free" - Wassily Kandinsky. This quote has had a tremendous impact on my artistic endeavors, my choices in creativity, and my appreciation for the creations of others. Another favorite quote: "Interpreting a picture is an interesting intellectual activity which often tells us more about ourselves than the artist." Michael Dickinson whose work can be viewed here.
Through my art I have learned to express issues that are important to me. Sometimes my art, like a photograph, captures meaningful moments in my life. I feel that there are infinite ways to express oneself, the canvas is my stage for free expression. I have not had formal training, I have trained myself through curiosity and experimentation. I started my own business in Berkeley, CA painting houses and was known as "THE WEEKEND PAINTER" My professional work included Faux finish, Tromp L' oeil, murals, and furniture refinishing. I try hard to work with materials that are least harmful to the environment, and plan projects that conserve on supplies, and respect the well being of our earth. I create art work by commission, I can be reached by email: karafree1@comcast.net or my studio 901-359-0035 (studio) Life is discovering that there are infinite possibilities, art is the sharing of those discoveries.
